Building Insulation
Made of Carpet.
Cut back on landfill-bound carpet while saving money and the environment.
Pinsul is a project to determine the viability of insulation made from shredded nylon carpet
Divert carpet from landfills
73% of the US's more than 3.3 million tons of waste carpet ends up in landfills. By finding a new use for it, we're saving money and cutting back on plastic waste.
Save money
Due to waste carpet being cheapness, we can offer Pinsul to our customers at a tremendously low price — even cheaper than cellulose.
Don't compromise on home comfort
When mixed in equal proportions with cellulose, Pinsul retains an R-value slightly less than or equal to pure cellulose.
Laboratory Testing
Before rolling this product out to the wider market, we want to make sure it's safe and effective.
R-value Testing
According to our research, pure open-blow Pinsul has an R-value of around 3.3/inch, whereas Pinsul mixed with cellulose in a 50/50 ratio has an R-value equal to or just slightly less than pure cellulose.
Flammambility testing
The flammability of Pinsul is still not well understood, but our tests have shown that mixing it with cellulose in a 50/50 proportion bestows it with the same flame retardance as pure cellulose.

Our Product
This is a photo of a handful of shredded carpet, which looks, feels, and acts remarkably like real celllulose.
